Halfway

rebeccasr5

Halfway

that’s what I kept on feeling

no matter how hard I tried

Halfway

that’s how far I was always able to reach

and I was tired

as I crawled

and I clawed

and all I reached was halfway

I really like this truncated message of never reaching "all the way."

The only change I might consider is this: Halfway. That's what I keep feeling no matter how hard I try
That's how far I can reach
    and I was tired
    I crawled
    I clawed
    and all I reached...halffway.

I suggest the reduced language to create the sense of absence in the reader, the absence of just "halfway."

Nice work with lots of possibilities you can explore.
