To be lied to

Paris Margaret

To be lied to,
is like a huntsman spider waiting around the corner,
getting itself ready to crawl inside you.

Everything comes out in the wash.
As my nanna would say,
While she flicks her wrist to look at her watch.
Time fly's aye?
So I ask as many questions as I can,
Yet all I here is a lie every day.
People going about there lives with white lies hidden in the hay.

To be lied to,
is like breathing toxic air and not knowing what it will do.
But who?
I want to remind you.
That to be lied to,
Is feeling the whole world stop and stand still for only a second, maybe two.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I don't think a single person on earth appreciates being lied to. That horrible feeling you get in your gut when you know you are or have been lied to. I hate that feeling.

How true that constant lies break down the strongest of relationships - and trust suffers too - A well rounded lament on a subject not often dealt with and -thank you for the needed reminder.

Your welcome, thank you for reading. It is indeed a topic not many talk about.

I cannot stand liars. Once i realise a person is a liar then they lose not only my respect and trust but also my company, for i don't want their company any longer.

And the last time I had the displeasure of being lied to within a relationship, I issued marching orders and moved into separate bedrooms.

Alarm bells ring when the thought that i might be being lied to crosses my mind.

Powerful words from you today which remind me of past untruths.

I can completely understand where you are coming from, one lie broke my heart many years ago and I have hated liars since. It is an utter betrayal. I am glad you liked this poem and that it shows a powerful message. Thank you.
