Halleys' Comet

Conan.p

One of the best memories we both had,
We remember it clearly, like it was
last night. 1986, in late June.
The day where we could see Halleys' comet,
the memory always shines bright in our minds.
We were kids, sitting on your parents roof,
looking up on the night sky above us.
We had mutual friends, only meeting
through her parents party they were having.
The memory was as clear as the sky

The skys stars were breaking the ice,
The moons light highlighted all her features,
Her cute dimples shown when she laughed,
Her crystal sky blue eyes that shone,
and, especially, her annoying laugh,
which had always made me chuckle.
She impressed me with her smartness,
and I told her my stupid jokes.
We talked and talked, enjoying our
company. We both didn't leave.
For ages we looked at stars, but
you were the only light that night.

Halleys comet, a rock going at
high speeds with a tail of bright light.
It goes in the blink of an eye,
But it's always orbiting Earth,
whether we can see it or not,
a once in a lifetime occurrence.
It'll some day disintegrate,
But the residue will last for all eternity.

WELCOME CONAN ~ Thanks for a very elegant First Poem. HALLEYS COMET is an excellent subjecy for a Poem because in essence SHE is a cosmic Mystery appearing on cue every 76 years ! I was 3 in 1986 and She will appear again in 2062 ~ when I (BRIAN) will be 79 ! The setting of your poem is Magic two young People on the flat roof watching the Stars !
