Creeping Shadow

Alex Arnot

I watch the people walk along

Alone

Alone

Kindred, more with the dark that follows

Hiding

Gone

From a vibrant world that feels so wrong

Private

Lonesome

Long to consume, which I can’t swallow.

To the shadow, back I slither

Reaching for that which burns my skin

Here inside the dark I wither

With my own folly once again.

Where oblivion calls me back to rest

In somber sleep, my dreams protest.

In shackles of my own design,

I lose the key and stay confined.

Somewhere far beyond this cage

The darkness holding me shall fade

Distant dreams

Finally free

Someday soon?

No longer blue.

Such brilliant flow from start to end, even if was dark the was light at the end.

In shackles of my own design,

I lose the key and stay confined.

    That's a keeper

    Much peace and respect!

Thank you! I really wanted to make this one good after my last couple were a bit lack-luster.
