Rainbow Colours Shine.

kevin browne

Wake up in the morning to see someone in my place
Never saw the future, never saw the pain on its face
Go to sleep in the evening to see if someone hears
Always be aware even after all those wasted years.

Take a look and listen if you think I won't be there
Show a willing heart that it will tear yourself apart
Messages deep inside will show you how to care
Again as I wake in the morning with a dying heart.

Sunshine in the afternoon as I begin to start again
Nothing ever changes, no one can take the blame
To sleep and to dream away a part of the old times
And, to give away a life which I'd love it to be mine.

Scarecrow in fields if you can see me hanging up
Somewhere in the hedge, those thistles too much
But, tenderly spoken I didn't really care of dying.
Go to sleep again to step over the world of crying.

Woke up in Italy to find out where my heart is now
To pick up a rotten apple I can let everyone know
And, if you think you're me then take my shoulder
If you start to wake you know you're getting older.

Sparks start to ignite in this soulful mind of mine
Clouds begin to rain, but rainbow colours shine
Walking on some pastures I think the answers yes
To dream of another one if you thought I'd guessed.

Go to bed to sleep another broken-hearted dream
Just think like this because it's never what it seems
Overboard you sank into the darkest place of all
Bounce back up to erase the memory of your fall.

You'd bring along the sleeping bag just to top it off
Bring along a chess board if monopoly has stopped
Moonlight over Memphis leaves the sleep till last
Wake up in the morning to find my life has passed.

Tell me once again, and if It's okay to go to sleep
Tell me twice again to say that's it's okay to keep
Tell me something because words are hard to find
Tell me you just woke, and now learning to be kind.

Love must be careful in what we thought
Don't go to sleep whilst you learn to think
And a beautiful feeling of what is taught
Don't go to sleep or don't you even blink.

Sleep tight.

  • Fay Slimm.

An unusual rhyme scheme in this one Kevin but so tenderly phrased and appealing in its use of pathos - - love certainly must be careful to whom it gives its heart....... good read.
