“Reproductive health”

Yet for the baby it’s death

Your choice: “health” or death

  • Comment from author about the poem: The truth in language matters. Regarding abortion as a reproductive health choice - the irony of the lie is in the last line of my Haiku: regardless the choice, the outcome is the same.

I am reproducing below my Haiku, maybe responds well to this, though not euphemistic

    Mourning of ones birth
    Birth being beginning of death
    Celebrating death

Suresh- at least you grant the protagonist in your Haiku the opportunity to mourn it’s human life cycle. Is your second line verging on 8 syllables? Depends on how you pronounce “being” I suppose. Certain cultures here in the USA would certainly articulate it in one syllable: “beeeen”. Thank you for your perspective and poem.

I can see the (Roman?) Catholic side of this. Protestant would agree - or me anyway, at least 95% of the time. Difficult if the person will be borne severely disabled, etc, yet still a person.
Meanwhile - a lighter vein - I gotta find out what a euphemism is exactly, so I dunno if I'm lying with it, or what? Is it summat I can cook up for Sunday lunch?Am I uneducated?! I will go back to sleep - or back to the dictionary. lol.
