Is there a fact of the matter
that can never be disproved
Is there an absolute truth
that all can behoove
As sure as we once were
that the world was flat
We’ve transferred to the Big Bang,
and the beginning of all that
Are facts just a servant
to our spiritual minds
To provide order and sequence,
make things easier to find
If one fact truly exists
above all the rest
It’s that facts don’t exist
—no more and no less
(Villanova Pennsylvania: April, 2019)
Here And There
You are two things distinct,
that exist yet unfurled
You as yourself,
and as part of the world
Fundamentally the same,
but functionally unpaired
Your story twice told
—as you’re here and then there
(Villanova Pennsylvania: April, 2019)
All We Can Say
If the memories in the present
are of the past
And the aspirations of the present
to the future are cast
Then memories aspire
for only today
The only time extant
—and all we can say
(Villanova Pennsylvania: April, 2019)
Her Voice
Speaking through me,
all choice undone
The Muse unseen
—her voice unsung
(Villanova Pennsylvania: April, 2019)
Logic A Mess
Why start at the beginning
and not at the end
Why is reality nothing
more than pretend
Why are most facts
at best a mere guess
Your order disordered
—logic a mess
(Villanova Pennsylvania: April, 2019)
Flashbacks
A sudden embarrassment,
a moment of shame
A lifetime remembered
—in flashbacks of pain
(Villanova Pennsylvania: April, 2019)
Tears Of Pain
Those most desperate among us,
must learn to cry alone
Themselves regained through tears of pain
—to mark their pathway home
(Villanova Pennsylvania: April, 2019)
Tomorrow Calls
Every man dies,
but not every man lives
Embracing his passion
—eternity bids
(Villanova Pennsylvania: April, 2019)
Ego Sum
I
I am
I am because
I am
I
(Villanova Pennsylvania: April, 2019)
Temporal Delusion
Memories of memories,
illusions called the past
Their structure self deceptive,
inside our minds ill cast
Memories of uncertainty,
and memories still to come
Embedded in our consciousness
—this moment zero sum
(Villanova Pennsylvania: April, 2019)
