Tell Me Why

daydreaming

I think of him every night and every day
I look for him in the face of every stranger
I know I’ll find him somehow, some way
My love for him will get me closer.

I am beginning to recognize
That there’s no need to keep on searching
His essence is everywhere, he’s in everything
He’s the light that feeds my eyes
And the melodies that please my ears
He is the gentle warmth of the Sun
That touches me when he gets near.

He’s the rhythm of the waves
That castigate the shore
When it lets them get away
He’s part of the breeze that comforts me
When I smell his scent
As I walk through familiar places.

Oh God help me understand
What did you gain by bringing us apart?
I’m trying hard to accept your plan
But this pain has overwhelmed me
And though I’m trying really hard
I can’t go on without him.

Tell me why my suffering pleases you?
Tell me how I’ll ever get over him?
When you know his absence
Each and every day that passes
Clips away my only chances
To find peace and happiness.

And though I must accept your Will
And all my pain may get us closer
You need to know that you won't win
I will not accept this loss
And as the day you took him from me
Every single year approaches
My resolve will be even stronger
The only thing that keeps me going
Is the hope you'll bring us closer
So my heart will bleed no longer.
