Driving Southbound on Lake Shore Drive
The lake to my left; the city on my right
I love driving fast in your red little car
When I blast your music I go back in time.
The bikers and joggers run fast to keep up
I remember you swearing if they got too close
You drove like a man who had run out of time
You lived every moment like it was your last.
The faster you drove the more I prayed
You drove like you had not a worry in the world
You flat out refused to accept your life
So you just decided to keep driving fast.
I’ll always take care of your red little car
It was the best gift that you ever got
I will drive it and drive for a long as I can
I'll take care of your car for the rest of my life.

- Comment from author about the poem: I purchased a new CRZ for Shane in 2011. He loved the car. I kept it after he passed away. I intend to keep it forever...
