"I Baptize Thee..."

Kurt Philip Behm

Am I so entitled,

is it there in my name

Is the water redemptive,

 my salvation proclaimed

Does the Rock Of All Ages

 line my river with stone

Are the words mine by birthright,

 not borrowed or loaned

Is all time but a servant,

 flowing inward to send

A beginning eternal,

 whilst slaying the end

Is my legacy written

 in the current redeemed

As the present rechristens

 —my baptismal name freed

I must say that I had raised an eyebrow to this poem. Respectfully, you asked alot of serious questions, and I must say that as a Christian I feel a certain responsibility and conviction to spread the gospel. To recieve salvation, it is not necessary to be baptized in water so much as it is to be baptized in the spirit. To recieve salvation you must ask Christ to forgive you of your sins, and accept him into your heart. Still, baptism is a testimony of your faith, but it is not necessary. This is a good poem.
    Jesus saves.
    Persistence is key
