Misguided

Frederick Samson

Overcame with desire
As the sirens serenade
The cold flame of a fire
As I’m beckoned to the shade

A beacon calling to me
As I’m guided to the docks
But the darkness comes to fool me
Damned, I crash against the rocks

I move with no control
As the devil leads the dance
He charms away my soul
Like a snake snared in a trance

Hypnotised by those evil eyes
A promise of all I crave
But it’s a lie, the only prize
Is an eternity as his slave

A claim to buried treasure
A map to all my dreams
A temptation of what I pleasure
But all is not what it seems

My destiny rests on a road that’s tainted
I travel the wrong path my fate foretells
Covered with blood the sign was painted
Underneath read ‘Welcome To Hell’

  • dusk arising

A sad tale which seems all to familiar. Why does wisdom take so long to mature? You tell of human nature in youthful desires, and deception, manipulation.
Aye, all too familiar for me.

    Outstanding!
