A One Night Stand

daydreaming

My workweek's finally over
Let's do something tonight
The fun will last much longer
If you can stay a while
Just pretend that you love me
And I’ll pretend that you’re mine
These thoughts are far from real
But for now, it’s all I’ve got.

I rather live a fantasy
My reality is not so hot
No matter how many years
I'm alone, I'm used to that
My brain will keep on saying
I'm the happiest man alive
Even when the morning after
I can't convince my heart.

I no longer see the point
In working so, so very hard
It's the time we spend together
That makes it all worthwhile
Please never, ever leave me
Your friendship's all I want
I hope that you'll still care
After you take all I've got.

Don't ever, ever tell me
I don’t deserve your time
You better think again
I'll make you change your mind
My needs are pretty simple
There's no more need to lie
I'll trade my love for friendship
But please don't hurt my pride.

I like that we keep playing
This game is just too fun!
That's why I keep on saying
Don't ever go too far...
Just come and stay with me
Just like last Friday night
You make my weekends perfect
That's why I love my life!
