Gloomy Spring

Mirela Athanas

Gloomy Spring

No words, no rhymes, no lines,
No muse, some blooms, no Sun,
No scent in air, no petal shines,
Not even a bird is heard at dawn.

Have you forgotten that it's Spring?
You dead and sturdy rain that never ends,
Your mid May flowers wait only for a sprinkle,
Not to splash and shatter them in sweet revenge.

Where are the days of glorious Springs,
When Sun and Moon together speak,
And dewy petals speak to birds that sing,
And so do young hearts blushed in pink,
While synchronic harmony amazedly blinks.

Ah, those wondrous days of sunshine rays,
When the heart flutters and flies in air,
With perfumed petals, a breeze and a gaze,
Love sprinkled flowers blossoming there,
And Spring's revival wand settles as Heir.

There's none of that from what I can see,
Today, this Spring and some before it,
It just rains, and rains non stop, as if,
The doom has come and there's no awakening.

Such gloomy Spring, unhappy brings,
As if winter has closed the gated paths,
Towards an eternal freeze of everything
And all you can do is pray tomorrow is alive.

But the surprise of Spring is still there,
Still remains,
No matter how much it rains and rains,
Just one day of sunshine would be enough,
To give a sparkle to all and rebuild the day,
You'll see the first rose starting to bloom,
And right at that time you'll say goodbye gloom,
Roses are bringers of beautiful news,
Gloom and death will be forgotten soon,
When so many roses with their visage of Queens,
Start to fill with colors everything that's true.

And words, and rhymes, and lines,
and muses, and blooms, will start
That day of life and Sun,
And the fragranced air, and the shiny petals,
And all the singing birds will wake you up at dawn.

I'm sitting in Connecticut waking to yet more gloom and rain again this afternoon ....... your poem expresses our sad spring exactly (last year also). I think this is a forever thing because we've given Gaia a cold..........
