Mid Winter

Philip

In the bleak mid winter

when Pandora's box has closed it's lid on hope

The barren trees have cried their red and yellow tears

and stand skeletal on the frigid slope

The robin dips his frozen little head

in vain attempt to shelter from the gale

The leaden clouds which brood in winter skies

bring forth their spew of freezing snow and hail

In the black and unforgiving night

it's only love can guide us to the light.

Love is indeed the only way we can move forward to light - an inspiring message Philip and welcome back to MPS

Well, thanks for the weather reminder. And here, we were just seeing the first glimpse of sunshine. I must say that I enjoyed your poem, its use of metaphor, and its natural images.
For one, I agree with the sentiment of the power of love, as it stands against Nature.
So a welcome back is in order, and you start out your new tenure in fine fashion. - Phil A.
