Braces

SoulMeetsBody

A wire stretches across the cage

Like prisoners incarcerated

Each tooth snared in its own little cell

Both prisoner and tooth

Stuck in there to be straightened out

And to be released in a year's time

  • Comment from author about the poem: I've had my braces for about a year and a half now and am hopefully getting them removed in August. Here's a quick poem I put together based on a metaphor I've been thinking about for a while. On the topic of braces, I recently saw the film Magnolia where a character is madly in love with someone in braces, to the point where he breaks into his employer's office for money to get braces so he can be like the person he loves, before a cruel twist of fate makes him actually need braces. Sounds strange on paper, but to be honest the whole film does. It's a beautiful film however and one I'd highly recommend.
