Urban Stroll

daydreaming

I’m walking down a busy street
I’m headed nowhere
I hear a noise at a distance
Coming clearly in my direction
But if I cared a little more
I'll be paying more attention.

Strangers walk too close to me
Others walk away from me
They tend to trigger my defenses
Yet acting on them would be senseless.

We are islands in the ocean
Too detached from one another
As they get close to my location
I think I know their intentions
I start walking a bit faster
To avoid a huge disaster.

So here I am once again
Killing time I shouldn’t waste
Cruising down a city street
Trying hard to meet new people
But maybe not, I got good reasons.

Perhaps it’s time I realize
That I don’t need anyone
I was born alone, and I'll die alone
Having no one by my side
When it’s time for me to go
Doesn't really bother me
As much as it may other people.

My quest for happiness did bear some fruit
I found my strength, I’m telling the truth...
‘Cause all that sadness has gone away
I learned to trust and love myself.

So let me give you good advice
So you don't ever waste your time
Love yourself in every way
So no one ever dares to say
That you walked once upon the Earth
But made no difference in the World.
