There’s a jock strap in my drawer, that wants to be used,
But I am too odd for it,
I say, stay in there,
I don’t want to wear, a modern day codpiece.
There’s a jock strap in my drawer, that wants to be used,
But instead it’s still in its packet, still pristine,
Next to a pipe, that is not so clean.
So, I keep up appearances of yester year,
Baffling the hell out of all my peers.
There’s a jock strap in my drawer, that wants to be used,
But I am too odd for it,
I say, stay hidden, you are forbidden,
I am known for other things,
So, keep your sport away from me, my music, my wine, my poetry.
There’s a jock strap in my drawer, that wants to be used,
But I am too twee for it, as though you see some confidence,
Down below, I somewhat do not measure up to others,
So, I stick to what I know best, to keep my place in line,
But I will never throw this jock strap away,
For someday it may become a friend,
At a much needed time,
Thus, I say for now, I know you are there,
And when the time for change is key
My bulbosity will be cupped beautifully.

- Comment from author about the poem: Sorry about the delay, life got a bit hectic, hope all is well with you. This poem is inspired by the great Charles Bukowski's "Bluebird", and is about support, hence "Jock Strap", this also is the opening poem of a new volume of poetry entitled "The Words of a Wally", hope you enjoy.
