Mr. Men Song

AuburnScribbler

Mr Fast Paced leaves us all behind,

But then again never mind,

Let him fall, so we can rise,

He’ll stay down, it’s no surprise.

Mr Greedy Guts takes the cake,

That was clearly on your plate,

He starts to choke, what a joke,

He should’ve listened to what his heart spoke.

Mr Violent comes in making a din,

Making big profits out of sin,

In time battlefields turn back into homes,

Surely, there’ll be no prolonged war zones?

Mr Addict shoots up once more,

Taking the money from his whore,

But before you know it, they’ll dry up,

A clumsy cliché, that he’ll love hate sup.

Mr Right, tries to keep up the fight,

Toiling every day, and every night,

But the mob say “being right ain’t so cool”

So, one day wise man, has to be the fool.

Mr Zeitgeist continues to blend in,

Fearing change, and not learning,

He is such a modern day hero,

Though his high score so lofty, it's really zero.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This poem is more a collection of lyrics, and they were accompanied with some airy piano music, but in my opinion, the more I read them out, the more the words spoke louder than any chord. These lyrics are also a tip of the hat, to the great Roger Hargreaves, who wrote the original Mr. Men series. The original series though was aimed at children, so I have made a more adult version, that is more of a reflection of our society today. I hope you enjoy.
