You were my dad that I once knew,
But little do you know the pain you put me through.
I've grown up and realized
That your life is nothing but one thousand lies.
You say that you love me more than I know
But if that were true then why doesn't it show?
I know you have her,
And you love her, I'm sure,
But don't forget I'm your blood,
But obviously that doesn't mean anything to you,
I remember when I was the twinkle in my daddy's eyes.
Then he left one day without saying goodbye.
You say mom's standing in the way
And all she wants is for you to pay.
Maybe that's true,
But what can I do?
I'm your daughter,
And you're supposed to be my father.
Does that mean anything to you?
But that you'll never see,
And a father you will never be.
If you could see the tears running down my face.
Still the months have passed that you can't replace.
So, Dad, I've given up on you, and this time I'll leave.
From this day forward I'll just call you Dave.

Such a sad poem...I can feel your pain because I can relate...but you can turn that all around with forgiveness...believe me it will set you free
I wish I could forgive my dad but what he did I can't forgive him ever.
And my is Steve and I didn't meet him until I was 15 by then it was to late and my step father and drunkenly broken my spirit! Yet nearly 40 years down the line I'm a dad they could never dream, so in a way I did forgive and made sure I let mine know what a precious gift life is!
Thank you for sharing such a raw and open part of your journey, keep shining bright.
