I write the elegy
For forever ago
Sepia in memory
Forgotten
that one Friday morning
the way your legs were rested
The background noises
a car outside
the draft from the open door
the brick, moved
the light through frosted windows
Arbitrary pine needles
Arboretum
claret
soft English singers
That score
the boarding school dreams
a few pine needles
Caught in time
came and went too quickly
A cold morning
Forgotten
I loved you
all the arbitrary
all that came and went
In each small moment
that is forever ago
