A Cross Beside The Road
There was a cross beside the road
And pretty flowers too
In remembrance of a precious soul
That crashed one afternoon
We knew he had arisen
From the accident there
With a place in Heaven given
Surely we declared
Some mourned hours long
And were unable to undo the crash
With their friend forever gone
Having driven his car too fast
The family knew the accident best
And could easily locate the place
Where their loved one came to rest
And went to Heaven that day
Many tears were shed in mourning
There beside the road
With flowers so nobody forgot him
God’s wrecked but salvaged soul

A fine write w c. There is a small plaque on the side of a road a couple of miles from us, for similar reasons.
Thanks, orchidee. In my travels today, i saw crosses beside the road. I'm always reminded of the families and friends that wish to keep their loved ones memories alive.
An elderly lady who was just walking along her way on the path leading to our local shop when she was tragically killed by a drunk driver. I walk that path most days and am grateful I wasn't the poor old lady was taken away from her family and friends. Very touching WC.
You never know when it\'s your time to go. Automobile crashes happen, and they\'re always unexpected. Unlike the elderly and those that have experienced health problems such as cancer, there’s never any warning.
A touching awesome poem in sympathy for a victim of a tragic accident . Great meter and rhythm in this superb poem. Kudos for this elegy like verse.
