That Voice Who Calls (+5)

Kurt Philip Behm

I believe in Jesus

  I believe in Buddha

I believe in Crazy Horse

  —divinity shared

I believe in grace

  I believe in enlightenment

I believe in tomorrow

  —the promise it bears

I believe in man’s ability

  to rise above his nature

Religion a jailer

  —its lies befall

I believe our sacred freedom

  lives within a solemn choice

To become the living embodiment

  —of that voice who calls

(Villanova Pennsylvania: November, 2016)

The Fire Of Your Love

My eyes explode,

within the beauty of your image

My ears implode,

within the magic of your words

My mind expands,

within the thought of you inside me

My heart ignites

—within the fire of your love

(Villanova Pennsylvania: November, 2016 )

No Matter The Cost

Democracy is messy,

  thank God that it’s not

Tyranny once embedded,

  all freedom is lost

No liberty for the indentured,

  conscription for thought

Free speech for the patriots

   —no matter the cost

(Villanova Pennsylvania: November, 2016)

What My Heart Denies

Living without the need

  for either love or hate

And immune to the emptiness

  of which so many talk

I marvel at the effects

  they both instill and extract

As my mind understands in concept

  —what my heart denies

(Villanova Pennsylvania: November, 2016)

Crossing Over—Turned Around

Through the eye of the needle

Not to the left or the right

Dodging both on the comets tail

I streak into the light

My last wish out in front

As words melt in a fiery contrail

And with only one question

To weaken my heart

With only one thing to know

The seasons entwine

All beanstalks are felled

With the exit signs all aglow

I crash through the doubt

Releasing new hope

My affirmation now to reign

And look ever further

Beyond my scope

As my senses become untrained

I feel the loose pieces

Start to come off

A new lightness now abounds

The last burden has lifted

Burning bright in my wake

Crossing over—turned around

(Villanova Pennsylvania: November, 2016)

Emergence Sublime

Existential—transcendent,

  my words free to leave

Though rooted inside me,

  their seeds He conceived

They shape and they fashion,

  a will of their own

Each moment unfastened,

  a prison disowned

Existential—transcendent

 they come and they go

In dreams they lie fallow

  my garden to hoe

I live in the knowledge,

  past matter and time

These words my salvation

  —emergence sublime

    Kurt,

    Super poems!
    I found especially powerful:
    ā€¢ ā€œThat Voice Who Callsā€
In each one of us, there is
    ā€˜That Voice Who callsā€™.
How we respond...is up to us!
    The last stanza truly resonates!

    ā€¢ ā€œThe Fire Of Your Loveā€
    Totally EXQUISITE!!

Thanks! Really great to have you back.

Watch out for any falling whirlybirds!

On Chapter 35 of the book.

      Kurt

80-100. As you know, my chapters are short.
