Take Me Into Egypt

CindyB

Dream heavily in vivid images -
Take me into Egypt!
Palpable, mythic, a dark
Tangle of perfumed hair
And painted eyes.
Land of inundation and desert.
Rich and religious tombs
Cradle ageless death.
She drowses, sun anchored
Over stern gods and
Crumbling stone.
Egypt! How long since in
Heat and sweat your
Spirit rose from the sand?
Speak softly your
Ancient prayers.
Take me into Egypt!
