A listening ear

A passing lyric

A listening ear

Today my friend needed a friend

To hear her story from beginning to end.

To me she laid her problems down

As I sat still and made no sound.

She told me all her troubles and fears

All while struggling to hold back tears.

In her life she has seen it all

Reciting memories, yesterday could not recall.

With a smile and a hug, she wiped her tear

And was truly greatful for a listening ear.
