Last Orphan (+3)

Kurt Philip Behm

Immersed in dark matter,

it fights not to hide

A target blood red,

and covered in lies

It cries out for justice,

it cries out in pain

Until an arrow strikes deeply,

truth firmly ingrained

Its point bringing light,

its shaft driving home

A message of hope,

into falsehood atoned

And deep in your memory,

a last orphan screams

Renamed in the vengeance

 —rebirthed in this dream

Threatening Kobolds

Escaping the prose…

I hid in the verse

My mind to compose,

instead of converse

Defying description,

I sang through the notes

And placed my inscriptions

in lyrical rote

I chose to hear music

over reasons again

To dine with the mystics,

where forever begins

And when forcing my pen

back to stories untold

The Muse starts to darken

—threatening Kobolds

Unclaimed

A Poetess schemes

A Poetess dreams

In the thick afterglow

Of what’s never to know

Her feelings unsure

Her words premature

Her voice still unnamed

 —her suitor unclaimed

Across And Through

Crawling across the desert,

Running through the wilderness,

Walking across the ice

 —searching for the truth
