As he lays her down

haydenraquel

As he lays her down

On a bed unknown

The words she used to say no

doesn’t seem to be working anymore

She tries her best but he would not rest

And even though her innocence is gone

She’d like to be a child once again

There's bruises now

She's scared to touch

She just wants him to listen

I don’t think that’s asking for too much

And then he goes to sleep

is when she begins to weep

She wears a frown and nightgown

As he lays her down

Four years down the way

She crashed her car

She prayed it’d take her life away

simply to relieve the pain

But the light was just white dust

no reason to complain

In the end she drank away

but it couldn’t fix her brain

She wears a frown and nightgown

As he lays her down
