The Letter

SheWasTheSun

There's a letter in my heart

I wrote it as we parted

And bit by bit, ever since

The words make their way

They course through my veins

And enter my brain

"It's not ready yet", I say

"It's incomplete, I declare"

The truth is, my friend, it's always been there

The words, they come slow

But oh, do they flow

And piece be piece

I'm starting to see

Where the fault lines slipped

And left us both tripped

When the earth caved under us

And all we shared turned to dust

Every moment it travels

This pain unravels

And one day, my mind

Will get the letters all in line

And my mouth will read

The words we need

To heal these wounds

But not yet, it's too soon

There's a letter in my heart

It's been here from the start
