The Basin In the Meadow

Chagrined

Wind whispering menacingly in the trees

Speaking the truth of all things

I perish a little each moment

....If you find my bones along the path, bury them deep

The Whippoorwill defies the darkness

Its song offers solace to the loneliness

The night hides my shame

....If you find my bones along the path, bury them deep

The moon caresses the sky phthalo blue

The leaves of the trees undulate in the lunar glow

Morning light stains the velvet sky as the dawn discovers me and threatens to expose

Crimson light crests the hillside

....If you find my bones along the path, bury them deep

I stumble down the darkened trail

The stream lies in the meadow

Morning light reflects in the basin, along with my black silhouette

The dark cloud expands into the water and warms my wrist and hands before flowing into the pool

....If you find my bones along the path, bury them deep

In the water, two figures appear behind me

My tears are cooled, touched by the morning breeze

I am so sorry

It is too late

Please….Bury my bones deep

This is such an achingly beautiful piece but it makes me very sad to read it.
