My Intentions

ForeverJesus7

Lord God, You know I try.

I strive to be perfect,

but am only right,

seventy-nine percent of the time.

No matter how much,

I feel sick,

I try to always go to church,

but only make it,

seventy-nine percent of the time.

I do my best,

to put you first in my life.

Still, it seems as though,

I remember only,

seventy-nine percent of the time.

I know that I am,

fighting the good fight of faith,

but it only feels like,

I am in this race,

seventy-nine percent of the time.

Lord, I am not going to pretend,

because I know,

that in the end,

I will go to Heaven,

when I die.

I am not making an excuse,

but I am human.

So what about the other,

twenty-one percent of the time?

I am just a soul,

whose intentions are good.

O' Lord,

please don't let me,

be misunderstood.

  • Comment from author about the poem: The last five lines written in this piece is from the song, 'Don't let me be misunderstood'. I am not exactly sure who had written the song, but it was performed by Nina Simone. Still, the rest of this poem was written by me. We all know that we are not perfect. Eventually, we make a few mistakes in life. Still, we must pray consistantly, and ask the Lord to help us live a Christlike life. We must strive for perfection. This piece can go on forever, but I chose not to. Do not take this piece the wrong way. As Christians, we will always be misunderstood. Still, our intentions are never bad. - If you were of the world, the world would love it's own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. - John 15:19 - NKJV - No one is perfect. Jesus is salvation. Accept Christ. Persistence is key
