The Soul Remembers

SerenWise

Say what you like about religion,

The afterlife, Heaven, reincarnation -

But your face to me is so familiar,

It seems to sigh an echo, similar,

Within my heart -

Our souls are linear.

Tied by love and bound by fate,

Across time and distance, worlds apart,

And still, you seem to know my heart...

Perhaps I loved you once before,

In another life, a place and time;

On moonlit nights I held you tight

And basked within your soft embrace,

When morning came and you slipped away,

I ached again to see your face -

To touch your lips and hold you near,

As I do now - I see you clear.

I can almost feel those centuries, long,

Stretching out beyond, in complex song;

Whispers of memory, a shadow of fate,

At last, at last!

The past is spent,

And our future now awaits...

    Your poem has bridged the distance of both space and time, to hold your love eternal
