Grandpa Henry

Unknown unto my eyes
You've sown into my mind
A bent I satisfy
Through melody and rhyme
So tell me, is it mine?
A gift from the divine?
Or yours for me to borrow
Til I complete my time?

Deceased before my birth
You leave a worldly mirth
Unto me to shine on sorrow;
Fine, for what it's worth
But when I draw a picture,
Capture depth of scripture,
Enrapture rigid mental fixtures
To twist into artistic mixtures
It's you that comes to mind
Is it true that I am blind?
But may be guided from behind
To create like you in kind?

Perhaps I wouldn't bother
To dabble as an author
Rekindle awes unto your daughter
If not for you, grandfather
