When Evil is God

Seek

When Evil is God

In my heart’s eye, the green of leaves turns grey

Flowers drooping, grieving over the mood of decay

As evil hijacks divine thrones, leading beings astray

Raining malice on foes, forged far, far away

Imposing rule over peoples refusing to pray

To Evil unknown ‘n gods that only slay

As noble intentions turn tyrannical

Folks behind them wildly diabolical

Toxic pots on legs, kiss of death maniacal

Hearts hardened by tragedies made normal

Empathy vaporized, by acts wanton ‘n criminal

Playing god, ousting God, beasts now celestial

Fiends acting human, hearts plainly selachian

Hooked on power, avarice beyond porcine

Slaughter’s their calling, oozing rage - rabid canines

Slashing fellow humans forlorn, down ‘n supine

Stabbing persons, like mad porcupines

Baring pointed teeth like fierce felines

Mercy lost to greed, as rancor poisons restraint

Wrecking bounds set by scruples, humanity’s saint

Mauling all in their trail, killing all, muting complaint

Atop rubbles of conquest, piles of bleeding torsos spent

Crushing lives, warping cultures of folk innocent

‘Tis the tyrants’ souls, not the victims’, ravaged by torment

When Evil’s god, flocks kneel before a kindred deity

Thirsting for pogroms, acquiring stamps of cruelty

Blood tints on hands refuse to wash, devotees’ lasting booty

Like the green of leaves, the blue of the deep briny

Singing in temples, choirs of death, yelling bawdry

Odium twisted to love; god’s love made mockery

Sadism pervades, cruelty ignored, malice venerated

Promises of heaven for killers of the undefended

Hell for innocents, victims nameless ‘n unnoted

Unwitting martyrs’ screams muted by bombs ignited

Infant cries, horrors, tears of blood, parents departed

Death’s blossoming, love’s dying, flowers wilting, colors faded

Tickled by pain, of others thought unfeeling

Deafened by their cruelty, in torture rejoicing

Piling more hurt on victims, alien to those butchering

Raping, plundering, for the might they’re wielding

Cheated by power over humans viewed as sub-beings

Yelling love, in shrines of doom ‘n lethal conniving

Death peddled as salvation; pain sold as beneficial

Theft endorsed, as victims made inconsequential

Whither god of love? Forsaking thy mortals to thy evil rival

Love will prevail, say all scriptures, beings await its arrival

Patiently for millennia, or promises just contrived babble?

Weaklings succumbing to evil with no shot at battle?

Save the species from destruction

Shield the planet from extinction

Hum peace for all, sing hate to none

Diversity’s wealth, sameness be gone

Hope to crave, amity to grab

Lives to live, blisses to swab

Looks like I am not the only one who sees the evil which resides withing organised religion and their deity.
Though one hopes that any devout follower of a church/religion may react to your words in a state of self disgust, i suspect they will be oblivious to their sanctifying guilt. Brainwashed into righteousness.

Thanks for taking time to read and comment. Great analysis. Often it is political and moral correctness that blind us to our dark side, denying us the freedom of being and of seeing ourselves for who we truly are. These facades masquerade as denial, desensitizing us to the suffering of others and throwing us deeper into the morass we’ve created for ourselves. Our playing god is proving to be a total disaster.
