Man's Best Friend

ForeverJesus7

The most loyal beast of the earth.

You are my companion.

- my best friend,

so long as you live.

As a puppy,

you follow me everywhere.

In your latter years,

you lay in front of my bed,

on the same rug you've had,

when I brought you home,

with your bowl,

in front of you.

When I would work,

you would always help me.

You were always nice.

Perhaps that's why,

I call you,

my best friend on earth.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This is not one of the usual subjects that I talk about. This is definately not one of my better pieces. Still, I do not like every dog. I do not own one right now either. That is what makes that, 'one', dog so special.

Lovely tribute to your best friend. Dogs are quite quite wonderful people. I'd love to have one here with me but sadly my lifestyle would not allow. I couldn't bear to leave such a fine beast locked up in my home whilst i work.

They are animals. I don't consider them being in my home, 'locked up'.
      Persistence is key
