STRUCTURE OF ICE ! ANGELA & BRIAN ~ A 9 2 3 ACROSTIC SONNET !

ANGELA & BRIAN

ICE & SNOW ~ HAVE THE SAME STRUCTURE AS DIAMOND ~ BEAUTIFUL !

STRUCTURE (MOLECULAR) OF ICE CRYSTALS is the same as DIAMOND

Three dimensional and perfect Hexagons ~ each SNOWFLAKE is a

Regular hexagon ~ each one is different ! SNOW reflects light ~ so

Usually ~ in Scandinavia ~ a snowfall transforms the whole landscape !

CARBON ATOM can combine with four other CARBON ATOMS .......

Thereby producing a DIAMOND ~ which is three dimensional & sparkles !

Unexpectedly in ICE ~ each water molecule (H-O-H) also combines .......

Regularly with four other water molecules in a DIAMOND STRUCTURE !

Explains why ICE is so hard  ! Remember TITANIC  ~ split by an ICEBERG !

ONE of the many beauties of ICE is it reflects LIGHT ~ and early morning

FROST on a SPIDER WEB is one of NATURES most dramatic sculptures !

ICE CUBES are precious in the current EUROPEAN WEATHER (40C = 100+ F) ~ each

CUBE requires Latent Heat of Fusion to melt it  ~ this cools down your drink ~ simple !

Every property of ICE is amazing !  NEVER take ~ ICE - WATER - STEAM ~ for granted !

As I've said in a couple of other comments on other poems - what storms?! We must have missed them in our area.

      • Fay Slimm.

This informative tribute to ice and its connection to diamond shape takes the mind to its Creator - a marvel of nature we forget at our peril....... thank you so much for your poetic picture of beautiful sculptures we see in winter.

Thanks FAY: ANGEL here : Its 7:30am Thursday in NZ. Middle of Winter but being sub-tropical it does not drop below 5C = 40F during the night or 10C = 50F in the day ! Brian tells me it has been 35C = 95F in Essex today & hotter tomorrow ! You will need your ICE CUBES ! One drawback of Auckland in Winter is there is NO snow or frost and I love Scotland in Winter ! Still I have been to South Island for skiing and sledging : al fresco : which I love ! Pleased you enjoyed our Presentation !

          Blessings & Peace & Love

HOLA CHRIS : ANGELA HERE ~ thanks for your comment - pleased you enjoyed it ! Its 8pm here so just relaxing ! Winters here are never severe 45F @ night and 55+F in the day ! I have to go to S Island for Snow ! Ive read about the Winters in the Lake States ~ real cold down past 0F Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Ice is a hard SOLID because all the water molecules joing together in a 3D diamond structure which is why it is so hard and difficult to melt. BRIAN is in the middle of a HEAT WAVE 100+F today (Death Valley ?) Brian & I are both very busy over the weekend so may not post till TUESDAY !

Blessings & Peace to YOU & YOURS
