Unknown Souls

Dave poet

         Unknown Souls

Fallen shrubs spiders web

Writing fades each day

Unknown souls buried deep

Their memories slip away

Stones tilted, earth subsides

Mist comes crawling in

Forgotten names laying cold

In caskets deep within

Within the walls made of stone

Stand trees so great and bold

No chapel stands inside these grounds

To tell of these souls of old

  • Comment from author about the poem: I lived around 400 metres from a graveyard and I was saddened by the obvious loss of care for these souls graves. Some were over 70 years old, lost family links.
