A boat full of holes

Edthepoet

I had a dream
I wasn't lonely
Then I woke up alone
In a bed filled
With regret
And a one way ticket home

I had a dream
I wasn't addicted
Then I woke up cold
In a bed filled
With regret
And no hand for me to hold

When I'm dreaming I'm
Wide awake as I've ever been
I see them so clearly
The person I could've been
One hot headed moment
Left me out in the cold
Now not a day goes by
Where I don't miss the warmth

When I'm dreaming I'm
Wide awake as I've ever been
I hear them so clearly
Her screams of ecstasy
One storm in a beer glass
Left me out high and dry
Now not a minute passes
Where I don't wonder why

I had a dream
I wasn't lonely
Then I woke up alone
On an island filled
With her scent
And a boat full of holes
