An Imperfect Delusion

theotherjside

It was a few months ago when we first met,
I know I shouldn't feel like this but my heart beats fast and I let.

Darling I can't shake the feeling that I want you,
I just wish that you would want me too.

You wink at me across a crowded room,
Every single time my heart just goes boom.

I have a secret name that I always use for you,
This is all scary and weird to me, it's so new.

When I first saw your face you seemed so innocent,
But oh snap and your sworded ways became clear in an instant.

Blonde hair, blue eyes and a very cute smile,
It seems to me that this is my very new style.

It gets to me to see you with one of my good friends,
My emotions keep taking many turns and harsh bends.

Your eyes the way they speak to me in that secret kind of way,
I really want to tell you but it might throw our friendship away.

These thoughts they run free in me scattered in my mind,
It's almost as if you and my heart were assigned.

My heart rips apart into a thousand pieces as I watch you hug her,
I wonder how this started but when i think my mind goes into a blur,
Even after months and months,
I will not listen to the dark truth I must confront,
I stare into his new conquest's eyes and I think to myself quietly,
Who is this bitch I once thought of so kindly.

I like it. It tells a tale oh so many lovers will easily relate to. But, to my ears, eyes and mind you do yourself a disservice making words rhyme. There's a depth of feeling here which doesn't need the 'twee-ness' of rhyme. I hope you don't dislike me for writing that, by all means have a go at me for it, but it's truly intended positively and constructively.
