Oh, to be a woman

BoxMyHeart

Ashamed of my body
The way it curves the way it moves

Afraid to leave home alone
Just walking along a street after dark

Shown it's better to stay quiet
Pretty fragile thing sit in the corner

Lower your voice, don't cry
Because they'll think you're crazy or out of control

Fulfilling sexual needs is slutty
What may others think and say of you?

Show no masculinity
Because you'd rather be dead than be like them

Never admit that abuse happened
Nobody will believe you anyway

  • dusk arising

Great expose of the inner feelings of an individual who cannot conform with what society seems to expect through no fault of his/her own.
A subject i, for one, would like to see expressed deeper here on MPS. I am certain that among us poets there are many others who would also like to see this.

Thanks for taking the time. Im reading more and more about feminist movement and the journey is just so inspiring and astonishing. I agree this topic does need to be addressed more thoroughly.

You are a shining star and need no voice or opinions but your own! Your soul knows what to do and you're already following your heart

      Much peace and respect

Thanks Dan, thankfully not about me just a representation of how alot of women may feel or have felt
