The Fun of Marble Painting

Nafis Light

I saw marble paintings on the wall
and they're calling me to explore them and give it my all
in exploring not only their beauty, but their essence
of those who made them...which are embedded within their appearance.

Never did I take their picture
but they stay in my memory...here
and perhaps within this poem they are shown
in words...that will flourish, for sure.

It goes with red and blue
here and there
splashes and dashes
and probably seem like slashes,
but it's not anger,
It's fun and laughter
with the colours and paper
and seeing them splatter
and at the end...be in wonder
of how the results are
placed on the wall
to be significant pieces
and to be seen every day
and to be asked "What is that?"
and "Who made that?"
Wow, and people smile
to see them...even for a while.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I was wondering about today's post, and the image of those two marble paintings I saw at a youth community centre nearby came to me. I didn't take a picture of them but suddenly felt compelled to write about them.
