Release me from my decorated cage
Turn the key and leave, without your rage
Can’t you hear me singing all through the night?
Drifting and dreaming and losing the fight
Please, won’t you look into my empty eyes
And finally see beyond your favourite disguise
I am no more here than you are dead
From all the many lies we bred
With mercy, won’t you show your love
And end this choking I’ve been dying of
You say you love me, so let it show
Some day soon, please let me go

A cry in love's wilderness if ever I read one and written with such expertise I felt the emptiness - an emotive write Sylvia.
Perhaps an expert of love’s wilderness?
Thank you Faye for feeling my poem and fur your encouragement of my writing
the following words are the envy of all us scribblers
I am no more here than you are dead
From all the many lies we bred
and I liked the accompanying track.. so there ya go.. nuff said.. N
Envy?
I don’t believe you,
I do like garbage though
so do I now.
I can just imagine you on air guitar!
I play bass and before ya say it.. no not an air base....
A real one? 🙄
a real one...
Unrequited love's pain so emotionally expressed by your poem
I thought this was an interesting perception at first as so often unrequited love is seen as the pain of the person who has the love, yet here the burden is shared.
