When Waters Reflection.

kevin browne

The sense of knowing a demise is close
When waters reflection, if a face is dead
In retrospect, life's a pain, but if it grows
Minds to mouth to strain, an awful dread.

Upon the shouldered edge, another one
Below sheltered care, above the shame
Seeking wisdom honestly, another gone
Troubled wars between troubled blames.

Instant reactions fall apart, puzzled some
A long-time in willingness caught the act
Another shot, hang the noose, said done
Rifles galore, hand to hand, bullet impact.

A belief has left behind, a belief came in
A heart is broken due concern, let it hurt
A body broken in two, it pained into glint
Soldier boy is 19, Soldier boy dies in dirt.

Implications not understood, mistrust in
imperfections begin to gloat, that's okay
Correction facility locks, it's time to go in
Time became useless, time's on its way.

Too many nights in an old dirtyish town
And too many drinks, if too many devils
Transylvania Dracula, a night renowned
Sideswiped by a Frankenstein was level.

Trebled doubled-edged tears, for it cried
And one knows how or why to let it doubt
Pieces pick the puzzle, it's not that it tried
If Romeo and Juliet were to let it all shout.

To be or not to be now that is the question
As the belfry in Finland has now been seen
A brothers love of life. now a beautiful thing
Italy for some apples to where he's not been

Tricked upon in a genie bottle, dusk & dawn
And flowers smell emotions, emotion at loss
Farmers fields windmills wind upon the lawn
Swirling around when another has been shot.

With all the tulips in Amsterdam, a love born
With the tenderness that love always brings
Broken stems of the hurt, broken has it torn
As now it's too late for the larks begin to sing.

Bring back the teachers who taught us so well
Shameful minded people leaving things to do
Never mind the love that will always kiss to tell
When the heart has said, "what's left for us too".

  • Fay Slimm.

You have such a way with words Kevin and this piece flows from your pen with so many excellent rhymes on human imperfections. I agree with the final stanza that appeals for good teachers to come back again.... an inspiring read.

And yourself use the written word so well. I adore reading your work, but for some strange reason, I make little efforts to comment on peoples poems. I've been working on getting my 2nd book ready for publication in 5 or 6 weeks time which I'm really pleased about. Thank you for such kind comments you always leave beside my work...
