Then and there I caught myself doing it for the first time in my life
I walked past him, he was one out of three
The sun kissing the highlights of his face
One look, time stopped, I noticed the golden undertones on your light skin
I loved the way your dark curls whispered to the delicate wind
I kept this a secret locking it away in my chest for a year, maybe even two.
That is when I got to learn your name, and you mine
I remember when it was you who noticed me
The unknowing of what exactly it was you saw that day will always eat me alive
But here is what I remember
Like him, I was one of three
In fact I was walking the same path where I found him two years prior, sensing the gaze of another
I turned around, my Strawberry Chestnut curls softly whipped my face as my eyes met yours
There I caught myself doing it again for the second time in my life
Time stopped as your mouth was moving in indistinct chatter
Our eyes having a conversation of their own
This was your secret to lock away for a year, maybe three
That is when you decided that maybe our bodies could share the same conversation our eyes had all those years prior.
For the third time in my life my stomach briefly feels as if it’s gracefully falling down a bottomless pit
We are now looking at each other face to face in the dark of night, the moon is our only source of light
Our eyes are having a conversation of their own
He knows me more than anyone and we’ve barely spoken words
Only now time seems to be going fast, one glance in your eyes and I painfully remember the past
Should I keep it a secret this time? It seems safer when I know it’s only mine
In that chest lays a world where it’s you and me, We have spoken more words than the eye can see
But in this world, we have never been nor may we ever be
