Could Be The Best

JWKP98

And it makes me angry, because I know you could be the best

So for the life of me, I have no clue why you are content with less

I push, I push, a late start is better than none

But eventually, I have to admit defeat, be done

One more try, one more motivational speech

Start moving, being unparalleled is within your reach!

I’ve seen you push yourself, I know you have that potential, I have seen you deploy it before

So dig deep, you may not know it, but you’re hard corps!

Excuses are no excuse when you could leave everyone in your dust

Your inaction is like leaving a Camaro plant to simply rot and rust!

You can get to where you know no defeat

And yet from the battle, you just retreat?!

The fight to the top may be long and come with pain,

But get there, and you’re the best, everyone knows your name!

But I can’t make your calls for you, maybe I’m wasting my time

Trying to push uphill someone who could fly, but pretends to not know how to climb

It’s not that I’d ever stop caring, just have to come to terms you seem to not

And come to terms that motivation cannot be taught

Are you going to stand up, or did you waste all of my time and my hopes?

Are you going to just sit at the bottom of the mountain or face the slopes?

I don’t know, it is all on you

So what are we going to do?

For everything I cannot do, there’s something I can say

This is pathetic, you don’t even need me, you know the way

And it makes me angry, because I know you could be the best

So for the life of me, I have no clue why you are content with less.

This caring poem would surely affect a friend to "get up and have a good go" - a very engaging and well-crafted read.
