Puzzles

SheWasTheSun

There were days

Some years ago

When you filled an empty space

In this puzzle I call a soul

Back then I thought

Puzzles didn't change

So mine must have been solved

My pieces were all in place

Then you changed shape

And I broke myself

To make your piece stay

And though it hurt like hell...

We went on that way

For much too long

Just when I thought we fit

You'd shift and make it wrong

Again and again

I broke my pieces

Again and again

You had your reasons

And then, I ran

My puzzle isn't the way it once was

Once you break it, it never goes back

But my new puzzle is much more fun

And it's stronger in the places it cracked

On occasion, I still wish

You'd come fill the empty space

We could pretend we still exist

The way we did, but it's too late

For now, you don't fit

I couldn't make you if I tried

It's strange, isn't it

What can happen in time

Interesting, original, and well written. I never looked at my soul as a puzzle, but you made me think.
