Watching you

Jeffrey Roy

I lay in bed to watch you sleep

As you drift off and slowly breathe

So calm and restful an peace

Your eyes moving quickly yet not aware

I lie very still as not to make a peep

I see your expression turn to rage

Flailng and kicking escaping the cage

Could it be a nightmare interupting sleep

You scream out loud and awaken at once

Skin sweating and warm and heart pounding

What could be going on inside your head

The mind misunderstood and elusive

Neurons firing and messages flying around

What could make such a strange phenomenon
