climate strike day - san francisco: 9/20/19

Jon Nakapalau

i go up with a couple of friends

to see whats going on
marvin told us such a long time ago

crying for mercy mercy me
any mercy for a mother who has given so much

but now in her worst birth pains
surrounded by corporate midwifes

there is no plan b
the rest of the alphabet is dead

and mars is so far away
elton tells us it ain't the kind of place to raise your kids

it's cold as hell
as the earth gets hotter

market street becomes filled with menus
people hungry for change

we walk around and feel a vibe
like the buzzing of a hive

lots of angry young bees
with stingers getting sharper

a swarm is coming.
