Jon Nakapalau

the black bishop

and the white knight

                                                                            felled in field of battle

                                                                            as kings and queens

of gray feast at table

so many dishes

                                                                            but never enough

                                                                            leftover for those

at a beggars banquet

on long night of the living dead as

                                                                            my lai

                                                                            and chicago

were out of sight

all along the watchtower.
