An Old Man's Broken Heart

daydreaming

As time goes on, it becomes clear
The life we shared these past few years
Was not the perfect life I told
To spare my heart of all the pain
Too many stories still remain.

I need to own that I was wrong
Your love for me was not sincere
Too many reasons to hold on
While I was always all alone
I felt neglected all these years.

I must express the way I feel
You’re not around to interfere
I will rebuild my broken life
I must be happy just for once
It’s time to find a new romance.

I gave it all; you never asked
How can I blame you for my loss?
I need to say these words out loud
To teach my sad poor broken heart
It's time to put it all behind...

I took you in, I changed your life
In retrospect, I don’t know why
I must let go, it’s time to find
Someone honest, pure and kind
To heal this old man's broken heart.
