For All Generations

ForeverJesus7

When Christ ascended,

into Heaven,

two-thousand years ago,

He left behind the Holy Spirit,

for all generations to know.

It was not just,

for His apostles.

It was not only for Paul.

The Holy Spirit,

would last forever,

for whoever was willing to call.

It pushed through wars,

and genecide.

It brought reformation,

and broke down walls.

It brought about,

great revivals,

and faced opposition,

and not once did it fall.

I am sad to say,

that opposition,

will never go away,

still, neither will the Holy Spirit.

He helps me everyday,

to grow in my faith.

As He grows near to me,

I grow near it.

Now a new generation comes,

and still the Holy Spirit does not waver.

It manifests itself,

to those who call on it,

and will always show them favor.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I wrote this piece mostly because of what I saw this eighteen year old young man do. He was the brother of someone who was innocently shot by a police officer, yet rather than hating her, he asked the judge if he could hug her. As the courtroom fell silent, his hug inspired the judge to hug the woman and give her a Bible as well. That is something we so rarely see. Still, him forgiving and hugging that woman caused alot of mixed emotions (good and bad) and alot of criticism from other people. This young man is only eighteen years old. He lost his brother, and the Holy Spirit led him to forgive the one who took his brother's life. The power of forgiveness is so strong. Let Christ be your light. Shine in the darkness. Persistence is key
