Of Another Design

Jal

I lay awake for another night
Conflicted with insomniacs plight
And with thoughts of a lonesome world burning bright
I turn away from the dying light
And imagine another design.

Of a world unscathed from disease or fear
Unchanged by human desires for a future so near
Untouched by ambitions tainted by a failures tear
A world of joyous bounty from those most dear.

Though wished for, my prayers received naught
These malicious emotions I've tried to fought
In blissful ignorance I foolishly thought
A key to freedom through the emotions they've brought
And enter another design.

Yet no matter my efforts, all in vain
I've set a course through the endless emotional rain
It pelts at myself, without restrain
I've given in to the unbearing pain.

The burden of life pushes down so hard
And the stresses crush through coping guards
Reality takes in, an unwelcome bastard
Imagination shatters, reduced to a fading shard
A piece of another design.

They say life is full of accomplishments and glee
Admittedly, its a feeling of emptiness oh so common to me
And I wish I could break from these shackles and flee
From this inadequacy, and to finally be free.

Into a world of another design.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Oh wow. It has been awhile since I last made a poem, hasnt it? I've been busy with life, I haven't had the motivation nor inspiration to make any poetry. But today I guess I just needed to vent a bit, and what other way to do so that is creating a poem about some personal issues going on with ones own self? So yeah. I hope y'all enjoy this new piece while I go listen to music and block out the nonstop thoughts of feeling empty inside! Isn't that wonderful?! I will try to get some new poems out more often. I got a few more ideas for some that might focus on a story I want to create. Until then, I will see later. Maybe.
